Steven Miles

Growing up in Brisbane, the son of a fitter at Golden Circle cannery and a work place health and safety inspector,  Steven Miles is the Member for Murrumba and Queensland Premier.

Steven has dedicated his life to standing up for the rights of working people. He stood up for Queensland workers who were being sacked by Campbell Newman under his LNP Government. This fight motivated him to run for Parliament in 2015, since then he has been part of the Labor team that has restored the frontline workers sacked by the LNP.

As Environment Minister, Steven introduced the widely successful containers for change program before becoming Minister for Health and Ambulance Services in 2017, where he oversaw record investments in our health system across the state.

As Deputy Premier and  Health Minister during the Covid-19 Pandemic, he played a vital role in keeping Queenslanders safe and our economy strong, always putting the lives and livelihoods of Queenslanders first.

With his experience and vision for our great state, Steven Miles will lead a government focused on delivering the services Queenslanders rely on and helping Queenslanders every single day. A Miles Labor government will deliver cost of living relief, continue to make record investments in frontline health services, continue working on the energy transition, a safer climate for Queenslanders and deliver more housing.
