Anne Baker

Calling Burdekin home for over 38 years Anne Baker is one of Queensland’s most respected local government leaders. Anne is known as a powerhouse community champion for her monumental lobbying and her authentic approach of putting people before politics.

After 17 years of successfully putting her heart and soul into representing the Isaac region in local government, the last 12 of those as Mayor, Anne is ready to once again stand up for local working families, businesses, agriculture, mining, construction and regional communities. As the wife of North Queensland Rugby League great Frank Baker and loving mother of two children and three grandchildren, all born in the Burdekin, Anne understands both the challenges and rewards presented to those raising a family in North Queensland.

Anne called time on her Local Government career in March after working with the Labor Government to Save Glenden and securing over $400 million in funding for her communities including the new Moranbah hospital, proving an ongoing commitment to health services in the Burdekin.

Anne is compelled to stand up for her community once again as the fight for regional Queensland communities is reignited by the Save Glenden campaign. Anne will be an incredible representative for Burdekin, the community she loves and has always fought so hard for.

Anne Baker is better for Burdekin.
