Branch Delegates to ALP (Qld) State Conference – Elections

Nominations are now open for Branch delegates for ALP (Qld) State Conference.

Branch delegates attend State Conference each year. The term for delegates is four (4) years.

See Rules G and M15 of the ALP (Qld) Rules for details about State Conference and the Branch delegates.

Branch delegates are elected from each federal division by proportional representation by optional preferential voting. The number of delegates to be elected in each federal division is determined by the number of eligible branch members in each federal division (see Rule M15.1.3).

Also please note eligibility requirements for candidates:

Nominees… must be financial and registered members of the Party and… have at least six months continuous Branch membership immediately prior to the opening of nominations. (Rule M2.4)

Candidates for Branch delegate of a federal division must be, for a period of at least three months prior to the opening of nominations either: (a) enrolled in the federal division; or (b) registered to a Branch affiliated with the federal division. (Rule M15.1)

The Branch Delegate Election Timetable is:

Eligible members will be voting by online ballot. Please ensure your email is up-to-date with Party Office: info@qld.alp.org.au.

Postal voting is available to Registered Postal Voters and anyone who is unable to access online services for the whole of the voting period (26 July–6 August 2025). Members are obliged to provide a unique email for voting online.

The relevant nomination form can be obtained from the General Returning Officer, Terry Wood, by emailing returning.officer@qld.alp.org.au.

All nominations must be received by the General Returning Officer prior to the time and date of close of nominations or they shall be ruled informal.
