Richard Edwards
Richard has a deep connection to Groom, with family roots in the region dating back to the 1860s. His great-great-great-grandparents chose Pittsworth as the place to settle and raise their family. Life in rural Queensland was not easy, but through hard work and perseverance, they built a future for their children.
Richard now lives in Toowoomba with his partner. Like many families in the region, they face the pressures of making ends meet and keeping a roof over their heads. Richard understands that access to proper healthcare and good education choices – both now and in the future – is essential.
That is why Labor is delivering cost of living relief, driving down inflation, providing a tax cut for every taxpayer, reducing student debt by 20%, strengthening Medicare and offering energy bill relief. But Richard knows there is still more to do.
Throughout his life, Richard has been fortunate to experience a strong sense of community, which has provided a solid foundation. Richard attended Harristown State School and Harristown State High and studied at the University of Southern Queensland. He understands the challenges of living in regional areas and is a proud local through and through. Richard will always stand up for his community.
Committed to ensuring Groom is not left behind, Richard will continue fighting for the region’s fair share of investment and opportunities. He is dedicated to advocating for local people, creating local jobs, securing infrastructure upgrades, and delivering the cost-of-living relief the community deserves.
