Notice of Election
Policy Coordination Council – Elections
Nominations are now open for membership of the Policy Coordination Council (PCC)—the policy development body of the ALP (Qld). The role of the PCC is to facilitate policy debate and development amongst Party members, Union affiliates and Labor caucuses. See Rule G8 of the ALP (Qld) Rules for more information.
Please note this is not nominations for Policy Drafting Committees. Nominations for PDCs will be called by the PCC after these elections have concluded.
The PCC is now elected every four years prior to the State Conference held in Year 1 of the 4-year Conference Cycle. Positions to be elected are:
- 10 branch members elected by ballot of all eligible branch members, two of whom must also be regional members
- 10 Union members elected by ballot of union delegates to State Conference, two of whom must also be regional members
- four members elected by and from the State Parliamentary Labor Party
- one member elected by and from the Queensland members of the Federal
Parliamentary Labor Party
- one member elected by and from endorsed Labor Councillors
Affirmative Action applies (see Rule J).
Also please note eligibility requirements for candidates:
Nominees… must be financial and registered members of the Party and… have at least six months continuous Branch membership immediately prior to the opening of nominations. (Rule M2.4)
The PCC Election Timetable is:

9:00am, Saturday, 26 July 2025 | Online voting commences |
5:00pm, Wednesday, 6 August 2025 | Online and Postal Voting closes |
As the PCC conducts many meetings on a weekly basis in the months prior to State Conference, members who wish to nominate should be aware of significant personal commitment required for PCC participation.
Eligible members will be voting by online ballot. Please ensure your email is up-to-date with Party Office: info@qld.alp.org.au
Postal voting is available to Registered Postal Voters and anyone who is unable to access online services for the whole of the voting period (26 July–6 August 2025). Members are obliged to provide a unique email for voting online.
The nomination form can be obtained from the General Returning Officer, Terry Wood by emailing returning.officer@qld.alp.org.au.
All nominations must be received by the General Returning Officer prior to the time and date of close of nominations or they shall be ruled informal.
