Joseph Shiels

Joseph calls the Gold Coast home, where he is raising his family and is a local Foster Carer.  

As an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with postgraduate studies in Clinical Redesign, Joseph has over 10 years of experience in public healthcare. He understands that Queenslanders deserve high-quality health and community services. Joseph is excited to join the Miles Labor team in delivering, $1.6 billion worth of health infrastructure projects for the growing Gold Coast community, together this will provide an extra 648 beds and will deliver healthcare services closer to home. 

Joseph has dedicated his life to supporting people, families, and communities. He listens, takes the time to understand, and advocates for them. Joseph is committed to delivering for his community, focusing on reducing cost-of-living pressures, delivering affordable housing, cheaper public transport, and cheaper energy bills. 

The Mermaid community has been taken advantage by the LNP, to play political games, rather than delivering for the community. Joseph is committed to representing Mermaid Beach effectively and authentically on local issues.
