Brisbane has been taken for granted for too long.

From congestion and basic maintenance to housing and local infrastructure, there is so much more our Council could be doing. But after two decades in control of our city, the LNP are taking our suburbs for granted.

Their LNP neglect stretches from the Story Bridge all the way to our suburbs, and Brisbane can do better.

But we need leadership willing to do the hard work and invest in our neighbourhoods.

We need a Council with a clear plan and a vision for a better Brisbane, one where residents come first.

Better Services

Labor believes getting the basics right matters.

We will boost investment in essential services and infrastructure that make everyday life better. This includes footpaths, roads, public transport, community clubs and facilities, and services like kerbside collection.

Clean, safe and accessible suburbs should be the standard.

Affordable Housing

Housing is about security, dignity and the chance to build a future.

While the LNP are focused on handing out developer discounts to donors, Labor will focus on delivering certainty and affordable access to housing for Brisbane residents.

We will put people before profits and work to ensure Brisbane remains a city people can afford to live in.

Local Jobs

Creating and protecting good, secure jobs with fair pay, fair conditions and rights at work is core business for Labor.

While the LNP continues to contract out jobs, casualise Council’s workforce and turn its back on local manufacturing, Labor will bring Council work back in-house wherever possible.

We will ensure Council assets, like buses and playgrounds, are built here by local workers, creating secure jobs and keeping investment in our community.

Real Action on Climate Change

Climate change is already affecting our city, and local government has a role to play.

Labor will take real, practical action to cut emissions and build climate resilient suburbs.

Because protecting our environment and planning for the future should happen right here in Brisbane.

Brisbane deserves better, and Labor is ready to deliver it.
