Irene Henley

After falling in love with the Bayside in 2005, Irene and her husband of 47 years, Stephen, moved into the area and haven’t looked back since. With 25 years experience as a nurse, Irene also worked locally at the Redlands Hospital as the Nursing Director in Mental Health and as the Manager for Mental Health Education and Research across the South East Queensland area.

As well as being a mother of two, grandmother of five and providing support for her 93 year old mother, Irene actively serves as a member of the local ZONTA Club, Donald Simpson Community Centre and the Redland City Chamber of Commerce. Irene’s life experience and proactive role in our community means she understands the impact the COVID-19 pandemic has had on the global economy, taking lives and destroying livelihoods. Queenslanders continue to work hard to get through the COVID-19 health threat and Irene has what it takes to be part of Annastacia Palaszczuk’s team to lead Queensland’s COVID-19 economic recovery plan.

Irene understands the importance of future proofing our state, to get Queensland back on track and create jobs, support local business and rebuild manufacturing. Irene will finish the job to kick-start Queensland’s economic recovery together.
