Judene lives in Caloundra with her husband and stepson.
Judene brings a wealth of real-life experience to the Fisher community. She grew up in a working-class family – her dad was a motor mechanic and her mum worked in a factory.
She joined the workforce at 15, working for the Department of Transport coordinating the Access Cab Subsidy Scheme – which supports older people and people with disabilities. She saw firsthand the difficulties that older people and people with a disability face, particularly with not having access to affordable and accessible transport.
Judene then worked as a Community Advisor while studying for a Bachelor of Social Sciences degree. She worked closely with the Veteran Community and saw the impact that PTSD and mental health had on their lives.
Judene went on to establish Volunteering Gold Coast — a volunteer resource and recruitment centre which is a valuable resource to the residents of the Gold Coast.
Judene and her family have made the Sunshine Coast their home for the past 6 years.
She is now the Environmental Sustainability Manager with a leading health and community services provider, where she is responsible for reducing the organisation’s carbon footprint, moving them toward 100% renewables and reducing organisational waste generation.
Judene understands the issues that impact the Sunshine Coast. She is passionate about climate change and the need to improve health, aged care and community services.
She believes people in Fisher deserve a representative who will:
- work with the community to make a difference and maintain the natural beauty and lifestyle of the area
- be a real voice for investment in secure local jobs and the provision of services for seniors and people with disabilities
- be part of a government committed to building a renewable energy sector now and for future generations.
